Gayle B. Lakey joined the firm as Counsel in 2007. Prior to joining Pietrangelo Cook, she was a partner in the law firm of Spicer, Flynn & Rudstrom, PLLC where she had practiced since 1996. She earned her law license from the State of Tennessee that same year.

Mrs. Lakey’s practice concentrates in the areas of negligence, appellate advocacy, premises liability, products liability, and worker’s compensation. Mrs. Lakey has represented numerous commercial clients including those in the insurance, trucking, grocery, petroleum, as well as general retail industries.

Mrs. Lakey received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Memphis School of Law. While in law school, she was an Associate Justice on the Moot Court Board. She competed in the Wagner National Moot Court Competition in New York City where she earned first place and won the Best Oral Advocate Award. She is also the recipient of the University’s Joe A. Moore Award, awarded for best all-around trial and appellate advocacy. Mrs. Lakey received her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University where she was a member of Golden Key and Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Societies.

Mrs. Lakey has served on the boards of directors for the Memphis Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and Hands On Memphis. Additionally, she has provided countless hours of community service through Hands On Memphis as well as Facing History and Ourselves. She lives in Memphis with her husband and their two sons.
